Since you lived in another place, you needed to go to the bathroom. If you tried to walk back and forth, it wouldn't have been very comfortable. Then, if you went to the bathroom in the room, it would take longer. In addition, since you'd have to go downstairs, you'd have to think about how you were going to get the tissues that you needed, and how you were going to wash your hands before you reached the bathroom.In short, your life during your first two years in your new place went exactly like your previous life in your dorm room.
